Vercel publishes no telephone number and designates no European representative. That is recorded here rather than left looking like an omission of ours.
Terms of use
TapeText is free to use, for personal or professional work, with no account and no registration. You keep every right in the recordings you open and in the transcripts you produce; nothing in them is transmitted to us, so there is nothing for us to claim a licence over.
The one thing asked in return is that the tool is not used to process material you have no right to process.
What the tool does and does not warrant
Speech recognition makes mistakes. TapeText uses OpenAI's Whisper model, which is good and is not reliable in the way a human transcriber is reliable: it mishears names, numbers, accents, crosstalk and anything said over noise, and it does so fluently, producing plausible words rather than visible gaps.
A transcript produced here is a draft, not a record. If it is going to be relied on (quoted in an article, filed in a case, entered in a patient note), it must be checked against the audio. The editor is built for exactly that: every word is clickable and plays back from its own position.
Nothing here limits the mandatory rights you have as a consumer under the law that applies to you, including the legal guarantee of conformity.
Your files
The tool reads the file you open and writes the files you export. It never modifies, moves or deletes anything on your disk, and it never uploads anything. See the privacy page for how to verify that rather than take it on trust.
Software this site is built from
TapeText runs on open-source components, including the speech model itself. They are named with their licences on the licences page.
Governing law
Portuguese law, Portugal being where the provider is established. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the European Union, Article 6 of the Rome I Regulation means this does not deprive you of the protections of your own country's mandatory consumer law.
